5 Homes Proposed At Vacant West Yorkshire Site
July 2017 – Keyland Developments Ltd, the property trading arm of Kelda Group and sister-company to Yorkshire Water, has submitted a planning application to Leeds City Council to bring forward a residential development of 5 homes in Weetwood in Headingley, West Yorkshire.
The outline planning application seeks to transform a vacant 2 acre site at Weetwood Crescent in Headingley, which is presently an unused part of Yorkshire Water’s Headingley Water Treatment Works.
The site is within an existing residential location with a number of houses running along the northern and eastern boundaries, including Weetwood Manor, a listed 3 storey Gothic style house comprising rental apartments, the Weetwood Court residential estate and Bardon Hall Gardens, a relatively new housing development comprising of very large detached properties similar in style to Weetwood Manor. To the south of the site are sports fields.
Following a detailed community engagement process, Keyland has prepared an indicative site layout of 5 detached homes to create a development that respects the site and its surroundings in addition to offering a high quality and attractive place to live in one of Leeds City Region’s most popular residential areas.
The proposed scheme has been designed by Edward Architecture in accordance with Leeds City Council’s ‘Street Design Guide’ and contains substantial landscaping provision around the design-led homes.
Keyland Developments has a strong track record of bringing back into use untapped Yorkshire Water land across the region to support the council’s housing strategy. The Weetwood Crescent site has been identified as well suited for residential use given its surroundings and location close to the heart of Headingley, with easy connectivity to Leeds City Centre.
