Skelton Gate is a 170-acre site located at Junction 45 of the M1, approximately four miles east of Leeds City Centre.

A large part of the site was designated Greenbelt and Templegate Developments secured the first Greenbelt release in Leeds since the Unitary Development Plan was adopted more than 15 years ago.

Skelton Gate will accommodate 1,800 new homes, along with new primary and secondary schools, public open space, a local centre, convenience store and associated infrastructure. Development of the site will make a significant contribution to the housing supply in Leeds.

Phase one of the development will accommodate around 500 new homes. Groundworks and infrastructure works are currently being undertake on Phase 1, with a view to allowing housebuilders to commence building works in 2020. As part of the development, Templegate Developments will transfer parts of Skelton Lake to Leeds City Council in order to allow the Council to create a new Nature Reserve, in partnership with the RSPB.

The project is being promoted by Templegate Developments Limited, a joint venture between Keyland Developments Limited and Evans Property Group.
