Keyland submits plans for up to 150 new homes in Pickering

Keyland have submitted an outline planning application to North Yorkshire Council for a new residential development in Pickering.

The proposed development, located to the south of Whitby Road, is for up to 150 new mixed-tenure homes. The site represents a key opportunity to help meet the borough’s growing housing needs as North Yorkshire Council sees its annual targets significantly increasing and is unable to currently demonstrate a 5-year housing land supply.

The proposals have again been shaped by Keyland’s innovative Six Capitals approach to sustainable development, with the site having been designed with a clear commitment to environmental sensitivity, social wellbeing and long-term value creation. The submission of the application follows a community consultation event, which was held in March in Pickering Town Centre, and gave local residents the opportunity to view the proposals, provide feedback, and engage directly with the project team.

Quote iconWe are delighted to follow the submission of our outline planning application in Greetland with another in North Yorkshire. The submission of an outline planning application for up to 150 homes in Pickering, North Yorkshire, again creates a real opportunity for us to implement our unique Six Capitals philosophy, with the aim of bringing forward another exemplar residential scheme that will support the local housing market and accelerate the delivery of much-needed new homes in an area currently unable to do so.

The development will assist the Council with housing delivery, but it also includes the provision of affordable housing, new blue and green infrastructure and public open space, as well as being a key generator of local jobs and investment throughout its lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our community consultation, and thank you to the consultant team who have helped put together our planning application and ensure that this development is best placed to deliver much-needed homes in this sustainable location.

Matthew Turnbull, Land and Planning Manager at Keyland
